It is based on moves from dance, gymnastics and yoga to develop systematically and methodically a strong and flexible torso. The aim is to achieve a balanced and aligned body, conditioned for optimal performance. How does it work?Pilates works the major muscle groups of the body which we use throughout our daily lives. Injury and pain prevents us from moving correctly and consequently we start to subconsciously use other muscles to compensate. This can cause muscle imbalance which may lead to other problems and thus hamper recovery. What conditions is it used for?At Physioworks, our physiotherapists are Fully Qualified Pilates instructors. The two treatment approaches compliment each other perfectly, ensuring that our patients receive the most effective, complete and holistic care. |

Pilates focuses on restoring muscle balance by strengthening weak muscles, and lengthening tight ones. The exercises are a combination of slow, precise movements with specific breathing to improve posture, strength and muscular balance.
