Podiatry

Podiatrists identify structural or functional contributions to pain and injury affecting the leg, foot and ankle as well as the spine and pelvis.

Your Podiatry consultation will start with a discussion of your presenting issue. This will be followed by a full assessment of your lower limb biomechanics and if any of your movement patterns may be influencing your pain or injury.

As part of your assessment, the Podiatrist will appraise your current footwear and shoe inserts. Gait Analysis will be used (on the treadmill with video playback), looking at your running / walking mechanics and technique.

The Podiatrist will then discuss their findings with you and agree upon the best management strategy to help alleviate your symptoms and achieve your goals.

Podiatrists specialise in lower extremity biomechanics. They use a variety of assessment tools to identify any structural or functional causes of your pain affecting the leg, foot and ankle as well as the spine and pelvis.

Some of the advice and treatment options included in Podiatry are:

  • Video gait analysis
  • Foot orthoses prescription
  • Footwear advice
  • Running technique evaluation & modification
  • Taping & strapping
